Comprising Bradford, Tong and Birkenshaw, BD4 is situated on the south eastern edge of Bradford bordered by BD12, BD3, Leeds and Checkheaton.

In 2011 there were 12,905 dwellings. 16.2% of properties are flats while houses make up 83.8% of housing stock (semi-detached properties being the most prevalent housing type). 50.9% of residents within BD4 own their own homes while 18.8% live in privately rented accommodation.
